Overview

The Design Lecture Series is an on-going program of events which brings world-class graphic designers to the stage to share their knowledge for free. The series aims to foster connection within Seattle’s local design and creative communities as well as stimulate conversation around the practice, history, and legacy of visual communication. To date the series has featured a number of legendary graphic designers, including Kenya Hara, Paula Scher, Emory Douglas, Lance Wyman, Experimental Jetset and April Greiman.

For the identity design, I created a visual approach which incorporated objects typically found at lectures—folding chairs, projectors, glasses of water—composed in unexpected arrangements. Chairs, podiums, tables, and glasses of water float, spin, and tumble to express the energy and spontaneity of the live events. The design system is graphic, modular, and expandable and has, through the years, been used across  countless applications of all types.
